Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh - June 26/27 2014

Practical Information

Heriot-Watt University. The university is located on a beautiful campus to the west of Edinburgh. You can easily reach it from the airport by taxi. From the city center, you can take bus numbers 25 or the 34. The end of the line of both is Heriot-Watt campus. A one-way ticket is £1.50, a day ticket £3.50 from anywhere in the Lothian buses region. Note that exact change is required.

Colin Maclaurin Building. The talks will be in the Colin Maclaurin building, in seminar room 1 (CMG.01) on the ground floor, which is located directly next to the main entrance.

Accommodation. A limited amount of campus accommodation is available. Please let me know as soon as possible whether you would like to stay on campus. Other options are to stay in the western part of Edinburgh, for example in the Thistle Hotel in the West End. The bus connection to Heriot-Watt from there is very good.

Scott Russell Aqueduct. A short walk from the campus (e.g. during the lunch break) is the place where Scott Russell supposedly discovered the soliton.
